The Bloody Mary was first created in Paris, France in the 1920s (during Prohibition in the United States) as a mixture of tomato juice and vodka. Once Prohibition was lifted in the United States, the drink's creator immigrated to New York City where he started serving his drink Stateside.
Americans were not excited about this new cocktail. They felt the drinked needed spiced up and balanced to cut back on the tomatoness. The Bloody Mary's creator took the feedback to heart and reformulated the drink to accommodate American taste buds. Thus hot sauce, Worcestershire Sauce, salt, and black pepper was added with the tomato/vodka to re-invent the cocktail.
Follow the recipe below for the original (once reformulated to Americans' taste) 1930s Bloody Mary with Rude Horses Habanero Sauce (in place of the hot pepper sauces of the time).
Ingredients:
5 oz Tomato Juice
2 oz Your Favorite Vodka
1 oz Lime Juice
Add to taste Rude Horses Habanero Sauce
Add to taste Worcestershire Sauce
Add to taste Salt
Add to taste Black Pepper
